Raise Funds for Japan Earthquake Relief Effort

 
 

Not just a typical music event focusing on raising funds for Japanese quake victims, but it is also a unique community-based event introducing traditional Japanese cultural activities to other local communities. The concert will feature artists living in or associated with the Forest Hills area and students of local elementary schools..Most notably legendary jazz saxophonist Oliver Lake will perform live with pianist Yoichi Uzeki, As a showcase of traditional Japanese culture, Japanese flower arrangement called Ikebana/Kado will be displayed in the church, and traditional Japanese tea will also be served at a reception after the concert by Forest Hills Friends with Tea.

80 adults and 32 children attended the concert and we have raised an $1109.49 donation at this event. Your wonderful support and generous contribution is greatly appreciated.

-All profits from the sales of tickets will be donated toward the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE/USA). Half of the funds raised will go directly to GiveOne to support NPO/NGOs currently working in the devastated area, and the remaining 50 percent will be used to establish a separate fund to support Japanese NGOs engaged in long-term reconstruction efforts. JCIE/USA provides immediate support to Japan’s leading emergency relief initiatives such as:

-Association of Medical Doctors in Asia (AMDA)


-Japan Platform


-JEN


-Nippon International Cooperation for Community Development (NICCO)

チケット収入によって得た利益は、米国法人 日本国際交流センターJCIE災害復興支援基金へ全額寄付いたします。寄付された義援金の50%は緊急支援義援金として日本の特別非営利活動保人パブリックリソースセンター運営のGiveOneに送られ、東日本大震災被災地救援のための活動を行っている登録6団体(リンク参照)へ分配されます。残りの50%は中長期復興支援のために使われます。
